The Association des concessionnaires Toyota du Québec inc., the Association marketing pièces et services Toyota Québec, the Toyota dealers of Quebec and their representatives respect the privacy of your personal information and are committed to protecting it and using it solely for the purpose for which it was collected. The objective of this privacy policy is to inform you of our privacy practices. This policy is subject to the relevant Quebec legislation, An Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as well as other applicable legislation and regulations.

2. Your Personal Information: What We Collect and Why We Collect It

We collect certain types of personal information and establish a file concerning clients of Quebec Toyota dealers and Toyota owners in Quebec (the "clients"), persons using our Website, or any other person communicating with us, in particular when such persons benefit from our offers, rebates or advantages, subscribe to a mailing list to receive a newsletter, request information or take part in a contest or promotional activity. In most cases, the personal information requested is the following: name, mailing address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, age group, preferred language, information regarding purchased or offered products and services or offers, rebates and advantages which they have benefited from, and, occasionally, information on preferences or consumption patterns.

Toyota Quebec may therefore occasionally, if you are a client or have consented to such communications, send out by e-mail, regular mail or otherwise, special offers, rebates, or other advantages regarding Toyota’s products or services or those of its partners. These offers may sometimes be targeted more particularly according to your interests, products purchased, services offered, or any other information we may have about you in order for us to inform you about offers that may be of interest to you.

Please note that in the context of certain promotional activities, such as the "Toyota Clinic", specific rules apply to the collection, use, communication, and retention of your personal information. Some of the personal information you have provided for the purpose of this activity may be transferred to one or several dealers or to Toyota Canada for you to benefit from the applicable offer. You will then be informed of the specific rules when the information is collected. When services are offered by an entity other than Toyota Quebec, it is your responsibility to inform yourself about such entity’s privacy policy. Although services may be offered through an entity other than Toyota Quebec, information you provide may also be transferred to Toyota Quebec in order for the services to be rendered or for purposes of information retention or processing.

Please also note that our contests always abide by specific rules which are set out in greater detail in the contest rules and regulations available on our Website or otherwise.

3. Electronic Information on Our Website

We may sometimes collect information that is not of a personal nature, such as the type of Internet browser or operation system you use, the domain name from which you were linked to our Website or your postal code. Furthermore, when you visit our Website, we may insert a data file on your computer, such as a cookie or other file of a similar nature. Toyota Quebec does not link the information thus obtained with your personal information.

  • the relevant dealer or dealers, Toyota Canada, or when necessary, any entity linked to Toyota Quebec
  • our goods or services providers, whether they be organizations or individuals whose services have been retained to carry out duties on our behalf (e.g. organization and management of promotions offered by Toyota Quebec, data processing, file management, etc.). Toyota Quebec takes the necessary measures, by contractual means or otherwise, to ensure that these third-party goods or services providers process your personal information for the sole purpose identified by Toyota Quebec and that they protect this personal information to the same extent that Toyota Quebec protects the personal information in its possession
  • any entity resulting from a merger or change in control of Toyota Quebec, in whole or in part, only if the parties have signed an agreement stipulating that the collection, use and disclosure of information is limited to the objectives of the commercial transaction
  • any public authority if the law so requires

We do not transfer your personal information to a promotional partner unless you have specifically given us consent to do so.

5. Third-Party Information

Your friends’ e-mail addresses or other personal information you provided when inviting them to enter a contest, participate in a promotion or when sending them a page from our Website, as the case may be, are not collected or kept by Toyota Quebec, unless these individuals have themselves provided their personal information and consented to receiving communications from us.

6. Personal Information Regarding Children Less than 13 Years of Age

The information contained on our Website is not destined to children less than 13 years of age. Toyota Quebec does not knowingly collect any personal information regarding children.

All data is stored on servers with high-security safeguards, protected against misuse and access by unauthorized individuals. In conformity with this privacy policy, Toyota Quebec also protects personal information disclosed to third parties in order to maintain the information’s privacy and to respect the purpose for which it was collected. As previously mentioned, as it is possible some of your personal information be transferred to Toyota Canada, when necessary, it is therefore possible some of your personal information be transferred outside of Quebec.

Your personal information is kept and stored on our behalf in Montreal by our advertising and promotional agency, Communications Bleu Blanc Rouge Inc.

8. External Hyperlinks Posted on Our Website

Our Website may include hyperlinks to websites that are independent from ours. By clicking on such hyperlinks, you leave our Website. Toyota Quebec does not exercise any control on the operation of these websites and the fact that they are listed on our Website does not incur Toyota’s liability in any manner. Any personal information you submit through these websites is subject to such websites’ privacy policies.

9. Changes to the Privacy Policy

Every once in a while, Toyota Quebec may modify its privacy policy. Please consult it from time to time. In the event of a modification, an adequate notice will be posted at the beginning of this policy.
