Star Safety System

Toyota’s Star Safety System features our six advanced accident avoidance safety technologies. Toyota is the first full-line manufacturer to make all of the elements of the Star Safety System standard on every new 2012 vehicle.

Brakes

All models feature standard Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), all part of Toyota's Star Safety System™. ABS works to prevent wheel lock-up and maintain driver control when braking on slippery surfaces. EBD monitors vehicle speed and load and then controls brake force distribution to reduce stopping distances and avoid rear wheel lock-up. While VSC works to detect and correct over- or under-steering during cornering maneuvers.

Front Seats

Front Seat Frames—wrapped in sporty fabric—provide outstanding comfort and help reduce fatigue on those extra-long road trips.

VVT-i

The Toyota Yaris Hatchback features Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) which constantly alters intake valve timing to create "overlap". Depending on the engine speed and load, valve overlap helps to draw in more air and fuel for increased power, reduces the power required to perform the intake stroke (for better fuel economy), or returns exhaust gases to the chamber to be re-burnt to reduce harmful emissions.
