Dual VVT-i

Dual VVT-i

All models are equipped with Dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence. With this system, the Electronic Control Module exercises independent control of timing and overlap on both intake and exhaust camshafts—increasing torque at lower speeds and horsepower at higher speeds—optimizing both engine performance and fuel economy. Dual VVT-i is also one of the main contributors to Highlander's Tier2-Bin5 emissions rating.

Highlander's Vehicle Stability Control system has been technologically enhanced to help integrate and control the performance of braking functionality along with engine output and steering control. The result: when accelerating, braking or in a potential skid situation, the system is quicker to apply necessary corrective measures.
